How amiable are thy dwellings, thou LORD of hosts! Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; even thy altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God.

Welcome to the Swallow's Nest!
Welcome to the Swallow's Nest!
This is a blog to share my journey as a Anglican Catholic priest's wife teaching Sunday School as well building our domestic church in the heart of our home.
The first thing I want to share with you all is our new church building! We have been members of this parish since 2005, and have rented space in three different locations over the years. Sunday School and Nursery were always held in odd corners where we could not put things on the walls or leave things out during the week. The other Sunday School teachers and I were never able to "nest."
Last week, as usual after mass, we stopped by our new church building and were thrilled to see the drywall up! This is first time I was really able to get a sense of our new Sunday School room. Immediately verses from Psalm 84 came to my mind,
"O How amiable are thy dwellings, thou LORD of hosts! My soul hath a desire and longing to enter into the courts of the LORD; my heart and my flesh rejoice in the living God. Yea, the sparrow hath found her an house, and the swallow a nest where she may lay her young; even thy altars, O LORD of hosts, my King and my God."
The building was originally a home, and I think it is happy that it is now to be a church. Yes, it is small, especially the Nursery/Sunday School room (3rd picture), but it is our own! The sanctuary (inside the altar rail) is a generous size. There is room to expand in the opposite direction without disturbing the sanctuary.
We are very blessed to have in our parish woodworkers, stained glass craftsmen, and many people willing to learn and pitch in. It is going to be so beautiful - I cannot wait to give you all a tour when we move in!
I will post again soon with book reviews and real pictures from my Sunday School and Domestic Church trials and errors. Thank you for visiting!
